We did 2 days horseback riding, Our tour started from Kochkor and ended in Kochkor. Its the best option if you have 2 days. We slept in yurt with local shepherds family. At night bit colder, but in yurt enough blankets. Yurt camp is not near the lake. They sais from july move to the lake. Everything was ok . We liked horseback riding tours

Kol-Ukok lake can be seen from late May till early September. If you want to overnight at yurt camps near the shore of the lake then you have to come in July-August when some local people settle down this time. The weather is quite cold to settle down in May, June or even late August. The route: 2- hours from Bishkek to Kochkor, 5-10 min to Kara-Suu or Isakeev villages where riding or hiking to Kol-Ukok lake can be started. It takes 5-5.5 h to reach the lake on horseback (total distance), 6h on foot. If you come in May-June then it's 3.5-4h to get to yurt camp (riding) and 4-4.5h on foot. The path for riding is quite good since there is one way to go up and down to the village. I had a family with children, one of them was only 11 years old. They had a lot of fun during riding. If you want to experience of nomadic life and without any super conditions (sleeping on mattresses, no electricity, local food,no signal for calling and etc.) then you will like this place!

In October or June you can have snow up there ! So nice ! and you will be ALONE ! If there is no-yurt camp like it was for me, before to start: just ask a tent - matress (you can rent-it in pegas adventure kochkor: Quechua good quality). Or take a guide : Baia , Tilek or an other guide from Pegas adventure , they are good to organize for your the transfer by car, rent a horse, prepare the staff for 2 days, and show you the additionel hike Kol Tor next to Kol-Ukok (across the snow!!! :).

Nous sommes passés par JAILOO pour un trek de trois jours au song kol a cheval, confortés par les nombreux avis positifs.
Nous avions demandé (et payé) pour un guide anglophone qui au final ne parlait pas anglais. Il n'y a eu aucun échange.
Les chevaux étaient blessés, sans fers pour certains et surtout épuisés, car nous sommes en fin de saisons.
Nous avons demandé au guide d'autres chevaux, il a refusé. Nous avons donc préféré marcher pendant trois jours (plus vite que les chevaux).
Et pour finir, en rentrant, nous nous sommes fait sérieusement sermonner par l'agence car nous avions préféré marcher. Incroyable !

We booked via on Facebook with Destination Kochkor company 2 days horse riding trip. The driver and English speaking guide pick up us from our guesthouse. Drive 30 min to starting point. From here we started horse riding to Kol Ukok lake. We ride 5 hours till yurt camp and ahd lunch after lunch more horse riding one and half hours. The lake located 3000m, was frozen only snow and ice, but beautiful view snow mountines. Spent 1 hour at the lake. In the evening back to Yurt camp. The dinner was delicouse, family where we stayed has a cows, we also helped them milking cows, its the great things I loved. Next day back to startiung p[oint 4 hours and by car 30 min to guesthouse. We all of us enjoyed during this trip. Highlyyyy recommmmend company!!!!!!

Kol Ukok lake is situated south part of Kochkor. We booked with facebook one day horse riding tour from Kochkor. The lake was frozen, but I loved horse riding. Before I didint have experience, the horses are calm easy to control them.

We have travelled to Kol ukok lake last year with Kyrgyz Wonders Travel.The price was reasonable, staff were very helpfull.So we recommend this agency.You can contact with them on facebook.

We did horse trek with Pegas Adventure. The way is difficult for horse but landscape is Amazing so beautiful. To get lake only one way go/back. We slept Altynbeks yurt camp, family is very hospitality, meals deliciouse.
2nd day was trekking to Kol Tor lake. I have seen here most beutiful lake and enjoying with nature. Highly recommend place.
It s true Pegas Adventure impressed us with horse activities.
The price as well cheeper compare to other companies

Just came back from 2-days tour in Kol-Ukok lake.
I called Joomart and he organized tour for us quickly. Horses are calm and very strong. Yurt is located half hour before lake and very silence there.

Kol-Ukok Lake
Kochkor Region
Lake Kol-Ukok is located in the north-eastern part of the mountain Terskey Ala-Too.
The lake water is very cold. The depth of the lake is 17 m. On the shore of Kol-Ukok you can feel silence and calmness. In the vicinity of the lake, in the mountains, you can find a variety of animals: mountain goats, wolves, foxes, marmots.
On the green meadows grow a lot of flowerss, the legendary mountain edelweiss is among them. In the summer months there are yurts of shepherds, who fetch cattle to pastures (jailoo).

Program Kol-kok Lake and Kol-Tor Lake:
Day 1. Transfer by car from Kochkor to Isakeev village, 30 minutes. Go on foot or horseback to the Ters-Tor jailoo, famous for its pure air and lots of crystal clear water. Arrival in the shepherd’s yurt at Ters-Tor (Trek time: 3 hours. Horse time: 2 hours). Lunch. After lunch continue to the Kol-Ukok Lake. After visiting the lake trek back to the Ters-Tor jailoo (Trek time: 3 hours. Horse time: 2 hours). Dinner and B&B in a yurt.
Day 2. Sleep out and enjoy the late breakfast. After breakfast trek back to the tour starting point (Trek time: 2 hours. Horse time: 1,5 hours). Transfer to Kochkor, 30 minutes. End of the trek.
