We were there for the Burgfest, 14 Euro admission per person that is Nepp and also the food was very expensive the shuttle to the parking lot costs 5 Euro and is also totally overpriced. I will never visit this castle again

Knight's festival at the castle. Just a rip-off! Bratwurst 4.50. Entrance fee 14 euros. Shuttle 5 euros per ride. Everything is overpriced and there's hardly any show. Rip-off!

Small castle, nice to visit.
During your visit you can also enjoy the small bird of prey show.
You can take the bus up, but a half-hour walk is also doable

The castle itself is worth a visit. A lot of effort has been put into the museum.
However, you should definitely avoid the "knight's meal" advertised on the website.
The meal was not medieval. There was Capri Sun for the children, tomato soup, potato products and dessert consisted of the cheapest oat biscuits you could buy. The least you could have done would have been to read up on what kind of food there was in Europe in the Middle Ages. Modern forks instead of pitchforks and regular cola glasses for non-alcoholic drinks are also out of place at a knight's meal.
There was obviously no agreement on which medieval period to set the knight's meal in or they simply didn't do their research.
The "program" consisted of little medieval "humor". People had obviously heard that language was coarser in the Middle Ages, but had forgotten that insults and derogatory remarks were not appropriate everywhere in the Middle Ages either. Any medieval court jester would have delivered a more sophisticated program here. One child asked the right question that evening: "Why are you insulting my mom?" If you want to get drunk and insulted, then this is the program for you, but if you're expecting a medieval knight's meal, you'll be disappointed. However, the service staff at the inn deserve praise.

us tourists stay away. go to wernigerode instead.
worst tourist experience ever. castles are inaccessible. this one still is designed to be that.
no free parking, despite having prepaid harz card.
no free shuttle.
we told staff at parking lot we have limited mobility only to get a snappish "well you must hike" answer.
no mention on website that it requires a 1.5 mile hike (one way) over extremely rough unkept steep trail. almost impossible for strollers or wheelchairs. germans seems to find that normal. we do not.
no access to courtyard while they do their birdshow.
no english show or flyer. show took 30 minutes for maybe 5 minutes of actual birds flying and rest sounded like reading off a wikipedia article on wild birds. staff speaks no english.
adding insult to injury, at top (!) of trail was sign that one could call some random number to request a (paid) bus. which snappish staff failed to mention.
no photography allowed inside entire castle.
tiny exhibit with three or four small glass cases. no english labels anywhere.
we left as quickly as we could. do not attempt to visit.

Eine tolle Burg! Nach knapp 2km Fußweg erreicht man die Burg. Es erwartet die Besucher freundliches Personal und eine gelungene Ausstellung. Für Abwechslung sorgen zwei kostenlos bereitgestellte Actionbounds. Nach dem Erkunden der Burg lohnt sich eine Einkehr im Restaurant. Dort gibt es sehr gutes Essen und freundliche Bedienung.

Die stolze Burg am Ostrand des Harzes gelegen empfiehlt sich als ein klassisches Ausflugsziel. Nach einem ansprechenden Aufstieg taucht aus dem Wald ein prächtiges Bauwerk auf. Über mächtigen Mauern und Fachwerk erhebt sich ein schwerer Burgfried, der uns mit seiner abweisenden Seite begrüßt. Gebäude und Innenhöfe führen den Besucher zurück ins Mittelalter. Der Rundgang in der Burg zeigt die mittelalterliche Baukunst, die Räume sind z.T. eingerichtet oder dienen als Museum oder für Ausstellungen.
Bei unserem Besuch fand gerade das traditionelle Burgfest statt. Mit Markt, Spektakel, Handwerk und einem leider geschlossenen Ritterlager waren die gesamte Anlage von Besuchern überfüllt. Überall lange Schlangen, alles war ein rein kommerzielles Vergnügen. Der ausführliche Besuch der Burg muss also verschoben werden. Nach einer kurzen Pause in der freundlichen Burggaststätte hat uns das seltsame mittelalterliche Treiben doch schnell vertrieben.

Die Burg ist schön auch die Ausstattung gut . Was überhaupt nicht geht die Haltung der greifvögel !! ALS wir da waren in kleinen Holzschuppen untergebracht !Artgerechte Haltung sieht anders aus .

Überraschend schön hier! Wir haben damit nicht gerechnet eine solche Burg hier zu finden.
Wir hatten das Glück früh an zu sein, sodass wenig Betrieb war und man in Ruhe die Ausstellung betrachten konnte.
Schöner Wanderweg vom Parkplatz zur Burg (ca. 2Km)
Die Burg ist sehr schön in Stand gehalten und die Ausstellung ist schön gemacht.
Wir hatten das Glück früh an zu sein, sodass wenig Betrieb war und man in Ruhe die Ausstellung betrachten konnte.
