Disappointed. Walk round lake ok, but cafe would not allow me in as I had a dog. All other workshops there would . Not happy 😒

We sat in the courtyard of the cafe, which was bathed in sun, and had delicious home cooked, locally sourced food. The menu had many classic cafe food items but also offered daily specials which had more interesting and adventurous taste pairings. The staff were all friendly and obliging. Our dog was very happy with a choice of treat from the canine menu. We loved it and will be back the next time we visit.

Have visited several times over the years and sad to see the gallery has gone and also some of the other outlets, and the pottery was closed. So only the glass studio and farm shop were open.
Hadn't walked the route for a while and got lost - a bit more signage would be good. Also some of the tracks were about 1ft deep in mud so the dogs and i came back filthy.
Cafe was disappointing, the soup was at best lukewarm, the roast beef baguette the meat overcooked and really hard to eat as the baguette was so soft and didn't easily cut into piece or could be held in the hand. Waste of probably what was good beef but the whole thing was unappealing - the dogs enjoyed it.
Scones were good, but the jam portion a bit mingy and the mini kieler jar made it difficult to get it out! Very pretty but impractical without a spoon.
Bought some items in the farm shop but ideally was looking for some xmas gifts and some fabric from one of the outlets which had already gone.

Enjoyed a lovely walk round the estate on one of the clearly marked walks before enjoying reasonably priced home made refreshments in the courtyard area. There could be more done to improve the number of retail units and attract businesses but did enjoy and purchase from the glassworks shop. The rural life buildings were also interesting but the whole courtyard area feels like its not really manages well and could be a real attraction to the area.

Very peaceful. Lovely lunch in the courtyard and walk around the lake. Wish I lived closer! £15 annual pass well worth it!

A beautiful parkland setting for walks ( river, lake, woods, paths, grassland) with a cafe and shops to finish off the visit.
The cafe does not allow dogs inside but welcomes them in the sheltered courtyard. Good coffee, great cheese scone ( I'm sure the other food was as good as it looked) and chilled tap water in a bottle - a sign of quality. Lovely high quality craft shops - ceramics / glass etc, and a farm shop.
Beware the potholes on the entrance drive.

Stopped here for lunch en route from England back to Scotland. A long drive through the estate to get to the cafe, and we had missed the cut-off time for service, but since they had soup left they were happy to serve us. It was delicious, so we were very glad they did. It was served with lovely fresh bread and the coffee and cakes were great too. Toilets are in a separate building but were spotless. Lovely estate grounds too.

Great estate, but the cafe is pants, stops hot food at 1430 and just about runs out of everything else about 20 mins after.
Waited over 15 mins to choose a hot drink and took several attempts to order a cake, as there was nothing left, again..
The gardens and walks are a dream , but don’t bother with the cafe, take your own, it’ll be quicker and you’ll have more to choose from.

The Dundock woods (Hirsel) are in full bloom in early June like they have just woken up from a slumber and the scented Azaleas and Rhododendrons are putting on a spectacular display. Some paths are still a bit muddy and tricky so expect a natural woodland setting where some plants have grown a tremendous size.

This is a great place to relax and have a walk wherever you want to go. Great cafe and nice little museum. Really enjoyed our day here

Playpark
What is the playpark like for children please?
Also can buggy’s be manoeuvred on these walks?

The Playpark is small but perfectly formed, swings, slide, wooden climbing frame and a few rocking spring things. My 20 month old loves it. There are little rooms off the park to explore with different displays in to keep the kids entertained.

Yes, as long as stay on their leads. We took ours and other folk had dogs too.
