Eglise typique du début du XIV siècle languedocien, construite hors les murs. La nef est couverte d'une charpente apparente. Très belle architecture à découvrir !

We were staying in Portiragnes not far from the church. It was interesting to recall the hour striking throughout the night, but at 8am they go mad, calling the parishioners to church. It was our alarm clock to get out of bed each day.
The church is quite plain with just a few ornimental stone artifacts adorning the outside. Inside it was peaceful. We lit a candle.

Cette église a été construite avec des pierres de lave. L'assemblage est original et lui donne un cachet particulier. L'intérieur est sobre et invite au recueillement

Built in black basalt mined nearby ., St Felix is a 13 th century church; classified as an historical monument since 1932.
Lovely stained glass windows & beautiful vaulted ceiling ( unfortunately my photos of the interior did not turn out very well so can only post exterior snapshots). It is pleasant to find a church open so if you are in the old village of Portiragnes stop by & have a quick visit to this tranquil place.
