I had very little interest for the « art » presented in Beyeler foundation and found the place oversold. I would recommande other museum in the region instead like vitra design museum.

Indoor and outdoor private art 'experience' on the Basel outskirts. Only a short tram ride from central Basel. Beautifully considered, beautifully spacious gallery with new and old works side by side, unencumbered by traditional labelling/explanation. I must say, I developed a new appreciation for conceptual art today as well. Makes you think and not judge. Well done.

Fondation Beyeler is convincing in every respect. The architecture blends seamlessly into the environment. The exhibition spaces are spacious and convincing in terms of lighting. The artworks get the space and weight they deserve.

A unique museum, a bit of a tram trip from the main train station in Basel, but surprisingly worthwhile. Our favorite moments: the two acapela singers dancing and mumbling classical music; sitting on comfortable chairs outside, watching artificial fog gradually engulfing an amazing fountain in the middle of a pond. We could have done without the engulfing fog at the entry, when we couldn't see a foot in front of us. And the arrangement of paintings hung together maybe seemed like a great idea on paper, but ended up as art clutter.

In a building built by Renzo Piano, a dazzling journey through modern and contemporary art. Particularly interesting display: confrontation and dialogues between artists from different periods and styles (for example Bacon and Giacometti or Le douanier Rousseau and Wharhol). Pretty park with some works in situ.

The museum has a good reputation. We went there and were quite disappointed. The paintings were - in our opinion - hung too close together and the biggest problem was that they were difficult to identify. There was a miniature index with tiny writing, where we couldn't even figure out where, for example, room 'D' was, let alone which paintings were in it. There was no number on the paintings themselves that we could have assigned to the index.
In addition, we felt out of place in several places because paintings were constantly being hung up and taken down. The room with the sculptures was impressive, but it was too densely packed.

On May 2, the only ticket category available at the entrance was the "Making of" exhibition for 10 CH. For this price we only had access to the shop and 3 rooms, or less than 10 paintings. What remained was the garden and the small gallery containing 3 sofas with a view of the garden. I did not see any paintings being hung but only works. Bottom line: it wasn't even worth the price of admission.
The site is not clear in the description of this "Making of", which does not constitute an Exhibition. He also doesn't explain that there is nothing to see apart from this "exhibition" from April 22 to May 18.
When you come to Basel specifically to see the paintings of the Beyeler Foundation, it's infuriating. Luckily we found other museums open in Bale.

We went there, paid reduced prize of 10 CHF., because some part of the exhibition was closed.
Save your money, if you have been to other art museums. Nothing new. Monet, Mondrian, Picasso - I have dseen them in MoMa, Tate,Musee d'Orsay or somewhere else.
Normal prize is 25CHF. 😡😡.
The didn't even accept our Basel card.

I'm not an art enthusiast, but it's definitely worth it. Nice collection of modern. The temporary exhibition (Jeff Wall) wasn't bad, but it lacked a bit of explanation. The park around it is beautiful, as is the building and the bar in the villa next door

Magnificent site and buildings. A stone's throw from a not too busy tram line, so fairly easy access.
But I want to warn you about an event that ruined our visit. During our visit, we were told that there was a temporary exhibition, but NOT that it prevented us from seeing the permanent collection which was our only reason for making the trip. When we noticed this, we decided to leave immediately but the administration (the staff at the counter) did not want to reimburse us for the entrance fee. So unnecessary travel and loss of our entry fee. We were offered a ticket to return another time but traveling from Canada to Switzerland is not an economically viable option.
So, if you wish to visit the museum, please confirm that the collection you wish to see is actually accessible during your visit.

Salve, sai dirmi se i bambini pagano un biglietto ridotto? Mia figlia ha 12 anni ma sul sito della Fondazione non riesco a trovare biglietti adatti.

No need to book in advance.
If staying in a hotel many will provide a card allowing you free use of buses and trams.
And there is a wonderful Mongolian restaurant a few steps from the bus stop on the way to the Museum.

Hi,
As a student you should only have to pay CHF 13,80 at the door, but be sure to take some form of Student identity.
Hope this helps, the Monet exhibition is well worth a visit.

Oui bien entendu mais il faut savoir que la monnaie suisse est le franc suisse.
La conversion ne sera pas effectuée et vous serez perdant.
De plus si vous ne faites pas l'appoint la monnaie rendue sera des francs suisses.
Alors autant se munir de francs suisses.

100 mètres à pied environ pour atteindre la Fondation.
