I had high expectations for this round and was expecting it to be the jewel of the week. I opted for the North course based on recommendations from friends. Whilst the course layout was decent (aside criss crossing the road a few too many times), I was utterly underwhelmed by the fairways. Worse than any public course I’ve played in the UK but with a €100 price tag? It’s just unacceptable. There’s so much to choose from in the surrounding area this will be scrubbed from future visits.

So to put this review into context, a group of 8 of us booked a deal through a UK golf travel company. The deal included 3 rounds (1 on each course) and 3 nights in 2 self catering apartments in the La Manga for a reasonable £345pp, flights and car hire we booked separately ourselves.
The accommodation was fairly dated and basic, in need of refurbishment but to be honest it was fit for purpose. The beds were clean, there were sufficient toilets, kitchen was decently stocked fridge, kettle, plates, cups, utensils etc. We luckily got a 3 bed apartment so this did help with sleeping / snoring issues... It had golf channels on the TV and decent wifi, 2 very nice patios with suitable seating for 8. The check in process was a bit disappointing, we were rushed through the process and given 8 key cards and a very brief overview of the site...
The catering on site, we ate at the onsite restaurant Lena Y Carbon (2 min walk), it wasn't great, my burger came pretty much raw, I had to send it back and it came back pink, others had seafood which was all very average.
Breakfast at the "Chill Cafe" (2min walk) was horrendous, go to La Barra (5 mins drive)!
Mulligans (5 mins drive) was a laugh, we got food from next door Last Drop and ate in the pub and watched the Autumn internationals, decent pub but very much an English Irish pub.
Day 2 we had breakfast at the Spike bar (near the golf course club house), it was horrendous, go to La Barra!
The golf courses, I was worried by previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The Proshop guy who checked us in with was very helpful and happy to see us. Buggies at €58 were good condition and well equipped with water, tees etc.
For a windy November, I thought all 3 courses were in pretty good condition, yes there were a few bare spots in some areas and around the holes were being chewed up by inconsiderate golfers, but overall the greens were in good condition (rolled pretty true apart from the unrepaired pitch and spike marks - but the club can't be blamed for that) and all the courses were interesting and challenging!
The North course was fairly open in parts (a bombers delight) but I'd say the more forgiving of the courses.
The South (the Championship course) was in good nick and had some really interesting holes, sometimes tricky to find the next tee, but overall a good course.
The West course is quite tight and I'd suggest if you were a higher hcap group to avoid it but although it was my worst day golf ability wise, I enjoyed the challenges it threw up.
Overall I'd say it was a good budget holiday destination I'm not sure its worth €100+ for a one off round of golf certainly not worth €200 one off (maybe the South is worth €100 but I'd say it €50-60 for North and West). But as a package holiday it was a decent.

La Manga may have been the benchmark for a golf resort 30 years ago. Everything else has moved on, improved and been updated, unfortunately La Manga has not. Premium prices do not reflect what is being delivered. Very little positives after coming away after 3 days golf. Staff surly and not overly helpful, everything just felt like too much trouble. Apartment accommodation, again tired and in need of an update and course condition average at best. Sorry, expected a little more than this..

Played this course in September as well as 2 others , for the extra cost we found this to be in the poorest condition . Fairways were dry and unwatered . lakes were half full and smelly . greens bare patches . was not really happy to pay the extra . Roda was in far better condition and for lot less fees.

Avoid this dump at all costs, the courses are the worst you will ever play, not maintained at all, it’s very expensive and frankly f…ing awful

Visited as part of our weeks trip to the area and was massively underwhelmed by the course and set up.
In comparison to other courses locally the welcome for visitors was lukewarm, the practice facilities average and the buggies are lacking the latest gps screens which others offer.
We played the South course and found many areas of the fairways and tees bare and very hard to play off, again other courses were lush in comparison.
Seems to live off its reputation but many will not visit again if the golf course is not up to standard.
We will fall into this group

Unfortunately, La Manga Club Golf Course no longer lives up to its self-proclaimed standards as one of the best golf resorts in the world. The fairways on all three courses are in very poor condition. The greens are fine. Time seems to have stopped on the driving range. Balls look like they haven't been replaced in years and the tee mats have seen better times. There also seems to be no further investment in the infrastructure of the plant, which is very unfortunate. The La Manga Golf Course used to be a unique golf destination. Positive to mention are the employees who always appear very friendly and helpful plus the new purchase of the golf carts.

Our golf society played here today13th September 2024. I will not be playing here again. I found this championship south course fairways in very poor condition, very little grass, black or no grass in too many areas. The tee boxes and bunkers ,greens were ok

We played the West course at La Manga,we read a few reviews before we played and were very apprehensive about playing there,it’s quite an expensive course but we got the Summer special so got a good deal to include a buggy which you definitely need on a hot day.The staff were helpful and friendly which is always a great start,the course itself was the best we have played on and we have played at a lot of courses in England and Spain,the Greens were very well kept and quite fast,the fairways were lovely and soft and Green,we are playing at the South course on Monday so really looking forward to that

I played all 3 and we took a buggy purely for convenience as there are a few walks between some holes where you have to cross the road and we got a wee bit lost on occasions .. so given you could or perhaps will be playing a slow round of golf as a lot of the players are "social" rather than competitive and so having some where to sit down is a blessing .. so I would say its worth the money ... we play a lot of golf so not just trying to add to your cost ... I plan to go back and may just play north & south but would still get a buggy

Hi,
I am booked to stay in a villa on site within the Lamanga Resort and I am trying to book golf at the best rates possible. Myself and my two friends would like to play each course once in the week beginning 10th October and wondered if thee were three round packages available and if so who do I contact to book them
