We will be reaching pelling in the afternoon time, will it be advisable to visit the lake on the same day? how much time does it take to travel from old hellipad location?
It is not advisable to visit the same day if you re arriving in the afternoon. The road condition and duration of travel to and fro (approx 3 hrs) will leave you stressed. On your arrival day visit the Rabdentse Palace Ruins & Pemayangtse Monastery and keep the next day for Kecheopalri Lake combining it with Kanchenjunga Waterfalls and Yuksom (subject to departure schedule)
It's ok to visit the lake in the afternoon but not evening keeping in mind road safety.
Peling beauty is serenity of the locale
If you have short time stay put at Peling
There are more beautiful lakes
Unfortunately the road is not the best and noisy people destroy serenity of lake

The Khecheopalri lake is a around an hour from Pelling. And on the drive, you may also want to stop and enjoy a few waterfalls. The roads are winding and do not make a very smooth drive. It is unsafe to drive post sunset. Therefore it would be better to visit the lake by afternoon.
If you are coming to Pelling via Samdruptse, char dham, then it will be very easy for you to visit the lake before pelling. But if you are reaching to pelling directly from Darjeeling side, in the afternoon and dont have other places to visit on same noon, then also you can plan it.
Yes Like everyone said its about 60-90 minute winding drive from selling to the lake. you can easily do it after some rest. you will be fine as long as you leave telling by 2-30 - 3 pm for it
there are few small restaurants where you can eat noodles or have tea on arrival.
My suggestion is visit this place in a fresh day. I don't think you will enjoy it after reaching Pelling in afternoon because it is a place where you would love to spend some time in an absolute serenity!!!
It's near by. Takes an hour and few minutes. You can do this on arrival.
It's a meteor crater which has become a lake as if you see it from an height you can make out but most don't notice it.
