The apartment is very expensive, at least twice the price of a good hotel in the center of Shizuoka or Nagoya, and there is no reason for this high cost. It is located in Ashigara, a small village at one train stop from Odawara. Apart from the station, that is sufficiently close to the apartment, there is no other facility really close (no shops, no restaurants, no tourist attractions). The apartment is not clean, everywhere there is dust and the kitchen is dirt. The lamp over the kitchen is dirt and it is partially detached from the ceiling. The inner part of the bath curtain is dirt and covered by mound. All the people we met at the check-in and during the stay have been always very kind and friendly, and they usually speak English very well. Futons are to be used to sleep in, directly on the floor; a typical and surely acceptable accommodation, if only the cleaning were good. Futons and duvets had stains on them, and after three days with no broom to clean the floor, the experience become uncomfortable. One night we found an insect roaming the futon.…
