This is a very cosy, comfortable minshuku, perfectly located for visiting the Peace Memorial Park and Himeyuri museum a few minutes drive away. It’s a neat little house with a well-tended garden in a quiet residential area, and a beach is less than 10 minutes walk away (though we didn’t swim due to the riptide warnings, strong surf and rocky shallows). The house is absolutely spotless, full of cute decorations and useful appliances, from coffee maker to washing machine to hairdryer. It has 4 bedrooms with shared bathroom, toilet & kitchen, but as we were the only guests on the 2 nights we stayed we had the house to ourselves and it felt like home. Best of all was Tominaga-san, the English-speaking owner, who doesn’t live there but met us on arrival and came over in the mornings to tidy up. He treated us to mochi one morning and melon the next. We really enjoyed talking to him and he couldn’t do enough to help. He annotated a map for us, made many suggestions and even led us in his car to see Cape Kyan, then to a restaurant he recommended in Itoman City for dinner. We slept well on the firm mattresses in our tatami room, which looked out on the garden. Wifi was fast. Soap, shampoo, detergent thoughtfully provided. The kitchen has everything necessary for cooking, including condiments, though we just microwaved prepared foods bought from Lawsons for breakfast. Note that there are no restaurants nearby open for dinner; a few eateries in the vicinity open for lunch only. It’s a 5-minute drive to the nearest convenience store and 10-15 minutes’ drive to Itoman City for restaurants. So a car is mandatory. (There's free parking in the garage or on the road outside the house.) A glass crafts centre, Mibaru beach and Ojima island are also a short drive away, Seifa-utaki and Cape Chinen a bit further. Highly recommend staying here for sightseeing on the south coast.…
