We took the opportunity to re-visit Hotel Divetsite to celebrate my birthday. It was just as enjoyable as our first stay and looking forward to our next already! If you're planning on staying for more than one night be sure to try the stuffed carp (must be ordered in advance) prepared by Plamen's mother. One of the best fish dishes we have ever eaten in Bulgaria!
We were looking for a base to explore the Blue Rocks area and the Hotel Divetsite seemed ideally placed, located in the pretty village of Ichera. We couldn't have chosen better! Our room was superb, furnished in traditional style (including wood ceiling) and with a lovely veranda overlooking the river Luda Kamchia and the mountains beyond, The restaurant was delightful (due to the current restrictions we had lunch and dinner there every day) traditional Bulgarian cuisine cooked to perfection by Veneta who happily advised us on our choices. Don't miss the air-cured 'jamon' if it is available - a real treat! As for Plamen's father's red and rose wines - absolutely superb! We can't wait to return in the spring!
