We stayed 1-night trying to catch the said magnificent sunset and sunrise views but the ever present clouds blurred the view. It was near 0*C in April outside and we were happy to be in the warmth of the room. We were assigned a room in the annex block and it came with dated wooden furniture, 2 firm twin beds but al least a powerful hot shower. Room was basic with Cable TV, WiFi and percolator to make coffee and tea. In the morning we had to bear the freezing cold to walk to the main building for breakfast which had a very good selection of local and Western food plus great strong coffee. One could also borrow the local costume next to the reception for photo shots. There is nothing outside of the hotel except a few small restaurants plus some fruit sellers hawking their items from their vehicles. A good stopover to visit the Meili Snow Mountain which we hiked the next day.

When we arrived, we realized we booked High Mountain Resort Shangrila by mistake (instead of High Mountain Resort, Meili at Deqin). As it belongs to the same hotel group, the hotel has kindly allowed Trip.com to cancel the Shangrila one with a full refund to us and booked us at Meili branch on the spot. The rooms are modern, comfortably heated & quiet. Toiletries are complete with rooms sandals. We were assigned non-smoking room. My skin is sensitive yet I find the beds and pillows are clean & comfortable. We were lucky the next morning we were able to see Meili Snow Mountain clearly direct from our room balcony (it’s based on luck). WiFi is good. The hotel provided free usage of tribal costume for photo taking in the morning. Breakfast is adequate, a typical Chinese breakfast. They also provided free breakfast to our guide even tho he didn’t stay at our hotel. It was really nice of them ! Service is excellent.
