The owners of the Phoenix Beetle Ecology Homestay were gracious hosts from the start, welcoming our group in our first night to local tea and farm-grown snacks. Later on, we got to check out all the really cool insects in their exhibit. If you go, you'll probably see up-close some insects you've never thought existed!

I visited this place with friends recently. The friendly owners were so welcoming and provided refreshing tea and a popsicle upon arrival. We looked at some scary creepy-crawlies that you could hold if you are not too scared! We also made DIY good-luck charms using fragrant Taiwanese cyprus wood, this was fun. I got to try samples of a delicious fermented pinapple-soy bean product (trust me, it tastes much better than it sounds). We also did a night tour where you have the opportunity to spot wild animals - they must have been shy when we visited because we didn't see much, but it was good nonetheless. The room was reasonable and the light breakfast was a good start for the next day. I highly recommend visiting or staying here if you want to escape the city and have a rural experience. Especially if you find bugs and beetles fascinating and want to try some local organic products.…

Auf meinem Trip durch Taiwan, immernoch in Yilan habe ich einTag und eine Nacht im Beetle Homestay verbracht. Eine sehr exotische Erfahrung. Eine ganze Menge exotische Tiere wie zum Beispiel Nashornkäfer, und Stockinsekten. Eine Menge eingelegte Leckerein wie zum Beispiel Ananas-Tofu, welches prefekt mit ein paar Cracker oder Brot zu essen ist. Außerdem gibt es DIY-Workshops in denen man Glücksbringer aus sehr gut richendem Taiwanesischem Holz machen. Außerdem kann man eine ca 1std lange Nachtwanderung durch die Felder in einer der schönsten Gegend in Yilan machen, in denen man weitere spannenden Insekten und Tiere sehen kann. Auch die Zimmer zum Übernachten sind gar nicht schlecht. Wir hatten zwei Doppelbetten, welche aus welchem Grund auch immer verschiedene hard waren. Das Bad ist auch sowie das Zimmer sauber und schön. Wer es kuschelig mag dem sollte einem längeren Aufenthalt nichts im Wege stehen. Leider zu dem unwohl des Besitzerpaares war das Frühstück für mich etwas zu leicht, was sich aber nicht auf den grandiosen Geschmack auswirkt. Alles in einem ein exotische Erfahrung die ich jedem Tierliebhaber nur empfehlen kann. …
