A very beautiful place, right at the foot of Mount Fanjing. I managed to book this thanks to the We Chat app, once a nice young lady from reception started to chat with me. We exchanged many messages using the translation function to get this organized, as no one around there speaks English. My biggest problem was that they do not offer pickup/drop off at the Tongren airport, so I was stuck figuring out busses and such ways which didn’t work with my timing. Well, she managed to organize for a colleague of hers to take care of me. It wasn’t cheap though. 500 rmb to get there from the airport, which takes about an hour. I had no other choice with limited time. The young man found me at the airport using We Chat again, offered refreshments on the way there, and even took me to a nearby restaurant to help order from the Chinese only menu. He did his best, but again it was difficult understanding each other and we depended on mobile translater apps. The food was good, as long as you eat local choices. No western food here. The room was amazing, had a master and smaller room, a fantastic river view and small balcony to relax on. At night, the beautiful bridge next to the property becomes all lighted, as well as the nearby trees. Organizing transportation to my next destination was a bit difficult because of the language issue, but also because they don’t have standard service to take you anywhere. I did not want to pay another 500 rmb so they got me someone else from another hotel nearby to drop me off at the Tongren Bus Station for around 260 rmb, which also took an hour. That young man was also helpful and helped me buy my ticket to Fenghuang once we got there. Overall it took a lot of effort, but I’m so glad I did this. Special thanks to Miss Hardy C. on We Chat. I thought this was a good hotel, admittedly I arrived late in the evening and departed after breakfast the following day but it has a nice feel to it. Check in was quick and efficient rooms are a generous size and check out was no problem. Breakfast was fine, Chinese style, as you would expect in a location like this. Bring your own instant coffee if you prefer that to tea. Hot water is available. Rooms are a good size, beds are comfortable and I had a peaceful sleep. You will need to keep your jacket on in the room in winter, it is cold. Come here and climb Fangjing Shan, enjoy the peace and quiet.
