Had an excellent fishing trip. The Hotel is an older but more than adequate hotel. Food was good service excellent. If you want to fish book directly with the owner and ask for the Ala Cart pricing, this is about a third of the cost of the package price and seems to be for the same service.
Hotel San Felipe de Jesus is marketed to the USA and International fly fishing community as the ""Tarpon Cay Lodge" baby tarpon. The fishing program is operated by Marco Ruiz, owner of Yucatan Fly Fishing Advenures, https://www.yucatanflyfishing.com/.
The hotel is clean, simple (it's not the W!), and all people working here are friendly and helpful. The AC works great, no complaints there at all. Be aware that the mattresses are made of foam, and the supporting plywood board hangs over the underlying supports so be careful rolling out of bed, or you may find yourself on the floor!
There are six suites that fly fishers are usually placed. These suites look out over the water, and you can view sunrise and sunset (in June) from these rooms. The second floor rooms (6, 7, and 8 ) feature a deck, that is above the rooms. Access is via a steep staircase. On the top of the hotel there is access to the rooftop, that enables you a 360 view overlooking the water and town. There used to be a bar up here, but it is no longer being used.
Beer and Margaritas are extra charge, all the water you could drink was included.
Laundry is available, although we didn't make use of it.
