Had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights in the Carnaby Cottage.Ist time visiting the Porongurups. Loved it. Definitely coming back and stay a little longer. Gary and Maria are lovely and helpful. They have only owned the property for about 6 months and are lucky to live in a beautiful setting. They have around 20 cows that roam the property. Some are black and some are brown. They had a new addition when I stayed who was only a day old. The cottage is well laid out with a well equipped kitchen & small fridge. Had a welcome basket with a loaf of bread with 6 eggs from the chicken coupe, some butter and marmalade & some rasberry jam. The bed is very comfy and the bed linen and towels smell so nice. I had a great sleep. It was so quiet at night. There is a washing machine and clothes line with pegs. There is a wood burning fire place. There is a small flat screen tv with just local channels. Wifi reception is not great. You have to drive into Mt. Barker for that which is a 15 min drive away. There is a great cafe there called The Grocery Store which do good coffee and tasty cakes. IGA store,Post Office,Bakery and The Plantagenet Pub nearby does good food lunch & dinner. There is a Thai cafe nextdoor to the cottages which is only open on Friday,Saturday & Sunday. It is supposed to be very good. I stayed at the start of the week so missed out. There is also Dukes Winery on the other side. There is a gate behind the cottage that can take you onto there property. They don’t serve food though. I would recommend Manyat Peak Cottages to solo travellers, couples or families with 1 or 2 kids due to the 2nd bedroom having a single bed in Carnaby and 1 bunk bed in Boobook .…
We had 3 delightful nights in the Bobook Cottage. We were greeted by the brand new owners who did a magnificent job in welcoming us and preparing the cottage with fresh bread and eggs and other home made delights. A wood fire was lit and everything was spotlessly clean and welcoming. Too many wonderful things to credit this place to list.
We had the pleasure of staying in one of the two lovely cottages at this property. The hospitality shown by the new owners was exceptional. We arrived on a very cold day to a roaring fire pre lit for us. Eggs and fresh bread, cereals, milk and a bottle of champagne all making us feel very welcome. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and an awesome view, we couldn't have picked better for our little break. The location is wonderful, surrounded by wineries, half an hour into Albany and Mt Barker even closer. Loved this place so much we are already planning our next stay.
What an amazing place to stay. The cottage was excellent, clean, spacious and well equipped. The location is perfect for access to the Porongurps, Stirling Ranges and even Albany is only 35minutes away. The hosts Rob and Lorna are great, very knowledgeable about the local area and which walks were the best to do in the time available. Will definitely return.
My wife and I recently stayed here (The second time we have visited) and if you are looking for somewhere central in the Porongurups to base yourself then this is it. There are only two cottages on the property with two bedrooms, one with a single bed and the other with a very comfortable Queen size. The cottages are fully self contained with a full kitchen, small TV, air conditioning for warmer days and a wood fire for those cooler evenings. The view of Elephant rock from the front veranda is beautiful and very restful as there are no noises to intrude on the peace and quiet apart from the birds. Can not rate this place highly enough, we will be sure to return.
