We needed a place to sleep when visiting friends. It was comfortable and quiet with good views. Lots of room. We were given Kangaroo Cottage although we had booked Magpies Nest which was a bit of a surprise
This place was a total surprise, as originally we were going to drive to Port Augusta, until we found out that all the hotels there were fully booked, so in a moment of desperation we booked here... and I am so glad we did as it was a blessing from heaven... at a rating of 2.5 stars on Hotels.com, I was only expecting the basics, but to my surprise we got nearly 1 million stars... Great stay and a wonderful little piece of paradise... the B&B caters for solos, couples and families... the villas have a great rural outlook with views to the creek, farm and outback. We stayed in Magpies Nest Cottage.... On arrival the slow burning log fire was pre-build and ready for lighting on our arrival. We are looking forward to visiting again.
We stayed in the Magpies Nest cottage. Very comfortable, on the edge of town, so very quiet. Sat on the verandah watching the sheep and kangaroos as the sun set. A great woodfire heater with as much (good) firewood as you could need. Beds was comfortable, and bread, milk cereal, etc was in the kitchen (full size).
We have been to Black Jack twice, staying in Magpies Nest Cottage. Most recently, we took our seven year old granddaughter with us. The house is clean, neat, well equipped, comfy and has a great log burning stove, which was a great adventure for the little one. The peace and quiet is terrific. There is Wi-Fi, but it was great to just relax with board games, books, cards and so on. We enjoyed visiting local spots, such as Melrose and Alligator Gorge, so there is plenty of outdoorsy things to do for a few days. We all had a memorable time.
