BEWARE!!! They will take your money even if you don't check in. We made emergency reservations here trying to flee the Sunset fire. We never checked in. Their policy is you can cancel anytime before checking without a fee. They charged us $960. I immediately let them know and was assured by Jay that he was aware of it and was taking care of it. He said he would call me back immediately . Over a week later we still have not been refunded. He never called back. Now he says he's very confused and doesn't know how to do refunds.

I will be back

I LOVE the Historical Vurpillat! From the moment I called to make the reservation to the moment I left the hotel I felt a beautiful kindness from everyone I encountered. Derrick greeted me and was so kind and accommodating. Jay is the owner and he helped me with my reservation over the phone and made sure I was comfortable and taken care of. I am in customer service and my stay exceeded my expectations in many areas. The location is perfect for a relaxing getaway. I stayed in a studio style room with a kitchen, an incredible comfy bed and very cozy hang out spot on a leather sofa with a big screen TV. My windows looked out onto the beach. If you are into volleyball, biking, walking, swimming eating and having fun...this is your place. Hermosa beach is a small beach town and the Vurpillat is perfectly situated right in the middle of it. Super clean and well kept. There is a bike shop at the end of the walk street to the east. Trick EBIKES. Nicest guy ever and once again great service. Bike riding on the strand goes for miles and miles Palos Verdes to Malibu. A lot to see along the way and make sure you visit Mickey's Italian Deli on 2nd street/ Hermosa Avenue.... Best ever! The pier is located 2 blocks from the hotel to the north. Pier Avenue has great eats, shopping, drinking, banks, pilates and yoga studio, and gyms are near by. I was traveling solo and I never felt unsafe or unsure of my surroundings.
I love it and highly recommend it! Thanks to all who made my stay perfect!!!

The Heart of Hermosa

In the heart of Hermosa, you will find this quaint little hotel that feels more like "home" than any hotel chain. I travel a LOT for work and decided to jump off the beaten path for a change of pace. WOW have I been missing out!! This is now on my "stay here" list and I am on my way to becoming a regular guest.

Promptly upon booking, I received an very welcoming text from Nicole. I'm a Platinum member with Marriott and I've never received that!! Once I arrived, Jay was there to greet me and give me all the guidance I needed for my stay.
Steps away from the beach and about a block away from all the restaurants. Location couldn't be more perfect.

Things to know: the rooms are small as it is a boutique style apartment hotel. Parking is on the main road (about a block away) but you can pull right up and load your suitcases.

HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend staying at this hotel!!

Good self catering option. Lovely beach location

Comfy beds full kitchen in each studio means you can self cater and save money. Newly renovated hotel- done tastefully and simply.
Friendly local owners. Chilled atmosphere. Those looking for hotel luxury might not love it. It suited us well and was affordable and practical and very well located for beach side trip to LA.
