I think yes there are noise issues at times, and the decor is a bit worn. But you have to remember this is an historic ship, and I’m glad they have retained so many original features
Places of the ship are run down and worn, like some of the carpets in public areas. But they appear to be doing refurbishment work to the outside of the ship
I expect like most things it comes down to money, the current contract for the running of the Queen Mary is up for renewal next year ( after many years ) so who knows what will happen
Overall I’m grateful I got to experience such an iconic peice of history
There are not multiple restaurants on the ship for breakfast.
There was a main breakfast restaurant, Promenade Cafe, (06:30hrs -11:00hrs) where you could order either off a menu, or pay a single price ($19 per person) for a buffet style breakfast. There is a Starbucks on the promenade deck for coffee and snacks.
The free bus service starts at 9am, to Long Beach, with an alternative choice of restaurants.
We did this in reverse. Checked out before noon, stored bags till late PM when we finished touring the ship. The Bell Captain will handle this (outside the ship in the ground entrance lobby). No charges. We had one airline carrying size bag each, 2 total.
