Brand spanking new hotel with excellent breakfast setup and significant design flaws.
Opened earlier this year, Townplace is refreshing entry to Pleasanton’s very stale lodging market. Residence Inn, Hyatt House, Courtyard, Fourpoints Sheraton, and DoubleTree are multi-decades old and well past their prime. ExtendedStay America is downright ghetto.
The newness of the facility loses its ‘wow” factor when one realizes what an unworkable, poorly designed, horror show this place is.
First off, once you have transferred your family’s luggage from the SUV to the luggage cart, good luck navigating the stupid obstacle course created by two sets entry doors that sit at right angles to each other.
Want to hang those rental tuxes in the closet for the wedding you are in town for? Have fun with that too! The closets were built too shallow to hang clothes in (see photo)!
Have kids to feed? No place for them to sit, even though the kitchen in the suites is big enough for a small table and a couple of chairs.
Moreover, the paint on the room doors is already cracking and peeling after two months (see photo).
We were told our suite had a sofa bed. It didn’t. All sofa, no bed. I had to rent an adjacent room in the middle of the night once the kids were ready for bed.
Want your beds made daily while you are out? Not here! Even with the every other day room refresh, beds aren’t made.
On the plus side, the bathrooms are nice and spacious. Maybe they should have installed rods to hang clothes in there.

Horrible staff. Rude management. Very unprofessional. Does not apologize to customers when they are in the wrong. Worst place out of all Marriott hotels and certainly out of all towneplace suites I have ever stayed in. The front desk and manager do not value their customers at this establishment

Smells brand new! It’s not often one gets to be the first review for a brand new hotel. I couldn’t wait to take pictures of the lobby and public areas. But I got a nice corner suite and it was so roomy. Looks exactly like the official photos. Love that there’s full kitchen amenities including plates, glasses, and pots! Nice little lounge chair in the room. Plenty of charging ports (usb-A) Front desk was super friendly and helpful. That was the key. You can have a gorgeous property but the staff can ruin it immediately. They welcomed me on a cold rainy night and made me feel right at home. Keep up the great work!
