My son and I had long wanted to go on an Argentina dove hunt so I purchased this dove hunt at a local SCI banquet for the trip to Rio de Piedras. I was able to secure the hunt for at the banquet for a very reasonable price. Lodge was very nice and comfortable, great setting on the estate. The hunting was beyond expectations! Incredible numbers of dove! Lunches and dinners were very nice, good food. Cudos to Dimas, our guide, he was professional and very personable.
Only complaint I have is that at the time to settle up on the expenses, the total was significantly more than expected. We were certainly aware that we were charged for each box of shells we shot (and trust me it's easy to shoot a bunch!) But be aware that the "package" price for the hunt has lodging at a local hotel in Totoral and that staying at the lodge is an upgrade charge. This was not made clear at the time of booking in my opinion. The upgrade price is a significant amount. The outfitter also advertises an upgrade to a private house. This house is yet another pricey upgrade. Also the cost of airport pickup and delivery is $350. Also is the gun rental, license fee and automatic add-on tips. The pigeon decoy hunt was pricey (but a lot of fun). It would have been much better if these charges were made full disclosure at time of hunt purchase and/or booking.
So in summary, a great high-volume dove hunt with very nice accommodations and personnel but it all comes with a price, not the bargain hunt it first appears. Adjust your budget accordingly.
