Dear Ashley S, We sincerely apologize that you experienced this issue when you stayed with us. Unfortunately, bed bugs have become am increasing concern in hotels throughout the country over the past few years. While bed bugs are definitely a nuisance, they do not pose a significant health risk and are not related to cleanliness concerns. Bed Bugs are typically introduced to suite by a previous guest. While this issue is not common at the Caribe, as a result of the intensive national news media attention to this topic, we have initiated a detailed detection program and follow up treatment plan in order to combat this type of concern. It is imperative that you, our guest, cooperate in this effort as well, in order to ensure the best possible resolutions. We take all pest issues very seriously and have strict and detailed procedures in place to handle such issues. Both suites that you occupied after moving from your initial suite, were inspected by Steritech (third party pest control company) and both suites had no bed bug activity. Steritech confirmed your initial suite was positive for bed bugs. As you mentioned a Resort Manager assisted via the aforementioned protocol we have in place and compensation was provided. To clarify and provide correction, out Tower III building is not “infested” and the room in question was treated in accordance with both industry standards and Department of Health standards.
