Stayed here for three nights with a friend as a base to explore nearby Koli National Park. Beautiful situation right by a smallish lake which you can swim in and rent canoes or rowing boats on from reception. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and communal kitchens have everything you need to cook your own food. Really friendly and helpful service as the kind lady at reception helped us plan our hiking routes each morning. Ukko-Koli and the starting point of main hiking routes is only around 15-20 minutes drive away, while Joensuu is around 45 minutes by car. An ideal base to explore the stunning Koli National Park.
Eigen aanlegsteiger mer roeiboot. Huisje was van binnen wat donker. Er is alleen WiFi bij de receptie.
This is not the usual place for staying over -- it should be taken as part of the travel experience! It is very close to Mt. Koli National Park and a car is necessary to bring you to this place. My fiancee and I stay in the cottage for two people for one night and we absolutely love the experience. Very romantic. There is no bedroom and shower in that cottage, but the covertible sofa can fit two people (unless you are big!) and is quite comfortable, and you need to bring your own bedding sheet (although it is available for renting). Also you need to clean the place at check-out to avoid additional cost. If you are used to stay in general hotels then this may not be for you. The cottage is very nice and unique, with its own traditional sauna (we stay in other cottages during our journey and I would say there is nothing like this!) and it is a good place to practice your fire-making techniques! We came from southern states and weren't able to do it after some attempts. The owner was quite Finn-style and just came and help us out without a second word. The only thing that make us a bit nervous is that there is a window facing the parking lot in the sauna room. Although the place is very quiet (we didn't see anyone other than the owners) and the steams will soon blur the window, it does make us feel a bit uneasy. To conclude, fantastic place, too bad that we just stay for one night :(…
