My two night stay at York House was memorable for a few reasons. First, the owner, Joan, is so interesting and easy going. I really loved talking to her during breakfast and in the evening. The rooms are all themed but not over the top decorated. She laid out a lovely continental breakfast with fresh fruit (not hot due to health dept. restrictions). We are planning a trip to Greenfield Village in June and will try to stay here again. I was by myself but know my family of teens would like it too as a change from everyday hotels.
My husband and I stayed with our 7 month old at the York House for the weekend. The hostess Ms. Schnell offers a great healthy breakfast with the table set with china and everything very nice. The rooms are very comfortable and I felt like I was at home not in a hotel type environment. Each room had nice homemade soaps and shampoos. Also we received a nice deck of playing cards with the York House on the backside of them. The price for the room was a great deal as it included tickets to the Henry Ford Museum and Village and FREE PARKING to those venues as well. The hostess was very knowledgeable of the area for things to do and for information on local history. Great location to Henry Ford events and close enough to Detroit without being in Detroit. We would definitely go back to stay. Of the three rooms the B&B offers only one has air condition so depending on what time of year you go and if this is important to you make sure you request the room with air conditioning (this room has two single beds, but I didn't care, the AC was a must as we visited during the heat wave).…
As a package deal with tickets to both the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village plus a night's stay, York House is a real bargain. We were the only guests that night, so we didn't mind having to go into the hall to the next-door bathroom. The largest beds are only double beds, and some guests might not care for that. We were fine with it. The house is from the 20's with lots of art deco touches. Three smallish, but quite comfortable, bedrooms upstairs for guests. I'd stay there again. We loved the visits to the museum and village as well, and only two miles from our B & B. Thumbs up all around.
