Beautiful views on the mountains, the veld and the bush. The accomodation needs a littel upgrade, but the linnen and towels are clean. It is peaceful and you can really enjoy the farmlife with the cattle, ponies and horses that graze in the veld. The kiddies playarea really needs to be upgrade and can be dangerous with loose wood and nails. With more TLC this can be a gem.
This is a really nice set up quite close to Barbeton. The huts are vey spacious and clean and the scenery is really nice. Perhaps the best bit is the animal sanctuary which we had a tour off, where you can get to find out quite a lot about the animals they care for. While we were there they had some tiny baby monkeys that were so small they needed to wear nappies for premature human babies. Totally adorable. Really dedicated staff.
We went to Jock to spend three nights on ,28,29 and 30th of March. It is very good with good food ,fine rooms and good service . We had a problem in the check out :as we were going to leave very early we spoke with the manager to ask for breakfast packs and also to ask for the delivery of some laundry that were delayed with their services . He said he would provide for everything but next day at the appointed hour there was nobody on sight : so we left without breakfast and without laundry .I complain to the general manager when I came back to Portugal and he immediately phone me to apologize and to tel tha they would refund us for one night and sent us the laundry . And they do . So I can say that even if we had a bit of trouble the hotel has a very responsible attitude about the problems .…
You know, if you're expecting a "hotel" then go somewhere else. Jock of The Bushveld Huts is just outside of Barberton near the Suid Kaap river and it is an old fashioned African experience. The Swazi style huts of reed grass are quite comfortable. The beds were comfy and it was in a beautiful surrounding. They could use and A/C wall unit - but then again - that wouldn't be so authentic. So, my advice to them is to either lose the TV and kitchenette or pop a small A/C unit in there for us soft Americans who are too weak to open a window. There is covered parking and also a grill at each hut. Also - the huts have lofts for extra guests. I like it a lot.
