We stayed here twice on our way to/from Kawau Island. We had flow into Auckand from Sydney that morning. The owners allowed us to leave our rental car and our excess luggage in the room whilst we stayed on Kawau island for 2 nights. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The more than adequate breakfast provisions were delivered to our room the night before. it was a pleasant walk down to the ferry. We would recommend it to others as it is a convenient stay before going over to the Island.
GOOD: friendly hosts, nice breakfast, clean, good location. BAD: located on the ground floor in an area which presumably was the garage. It feels like you are staying a relative's house as you can hear the hosts going about their life (e.g. television, phone calls, walking around). Not a lot of privacy. Quite disruptive to any romantic getaway. The photo of the table overlooking the water is also deceptive as you have no access to this.
I stayed for one night in the self-contained unit at Jacaranda House in Sanspit north of Auckland. The room was very tidy and modern. There was Sky TV and tea/coffee provided. There was a small ensuite and kitchette and we had the continental breakfast, which the owners gave us the night before. There wasn't much space outside as the property is built into the hill but you get a view over the harbour when you stand up and the walk to the sandspit ferry is lovely. The ferry goes to Kawau Island. This was good value for money and the hosts are very friendly. I'd recommend it to others.
