Thank you carobo for taking the time to review our property.
I am a little surprised that you found the building noisy. That's not something we hear very often from our guests, but it can certainly happen that we have guest who are perhaps a little noisier than normal.
I do apologize about the elevator. While it is fixed now, it took far too long to get it repaired. While it didn't leave us stranded, as we do have our second elevator, it was far less convenient than we like for our guests, and was a major nuisance to the hotel staff and operations overall.
We are very excited about our renovations! They do bring some challenges, and a few surprises, but the results are certainly worth the effort. We will be completed all of our in-room changes in the next month, in time for the even busier summer season.
Thanks Darwin E. I am glad you took time to check out the hot tub and sauna-an amenity that seems to be disappearing from some hotels. We could never part with ours hot tub, as it is truly unique-soaking in the BIG hot tub while looking over the lake only a couple meters away.
We love our breakfast gal! She is not only friendly and personable, she is also the creator of the wonderful home made (house made) muffins and baked goods we offer.
We will see you the next time you visit Nanaimo!
Thank you for sharing this great review of our property.
You are right, we are next to the highway, but the noise is not much of an issue, as your patio and window face the lake. As we say, we are "Your lakeside resort in the City", within walking distances of shops and restaurants, yet letting you relax on your private lake front balcony or patio.
We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Nanaimo.
Thank you for taking the time to post this review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Nanaimo. There are some wonder parks in Nanaimo, from Westwood Lake and its forested trails, to Neck Point Park and Pipers Lagoon, two parks with beautiful seafront settings.
Thank you KarenJ7777. I am glad the room worked well for your stay, and for your four legged family member. We love having dogs visit, and I think our property is very comfortable for them and their owners.
I do apologize for the small flies you saw in your rooms. It is the one drawback of being located literally on the shore of a lake. A few times a year we have batches of small midges that hatch on Long Lake. They are tiny and able to go nearly everywhere, however they do not bite, and don't live very long. They can make a bit of a mess as they are attracted by the lights of the building, but we do work to ensure they get cleaned up as quickly as possible, of course. It is a testament to the incredible, mild winter we have experienced that they have appeared so early, as it is normally not until May that we see them. Overall, we consider them a fairly small price to pay to be on the shore of our beautiful lake, and they do serve as food for the rainbow trout in the lake.
Thanks again for the great review.
Thank you Andrew B for your great comments. I love our view of the lake too, but I agree that the best part is the people who work here. They really do care about making every guests' stay a pleasant one.
I agree, there aren't a lot of options that are gluten free, but we do have fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and we do have gluten free bread available on request.
We do love to have pets visit us, and we do charge a fee to offset the extra cleaning costs we incur to ensure that the rooms never do smell an animal was in there. Many of our four legged friends already know we keep a stash of treats at the desk, so we can all get our dog "fix" when they stop by the Front Desk.
