Once the 'Palace of Business' for North Eastern Railway, our property has lots of history all the way back to 1906. To this day we try to share the beauty and history of our hotel and of York with each person that is welcomed through our doors. We have made note that you would like to experience the rooms in the original building and will proceed accordingly on your next stay with us.
All of our bedding was specially picked to ensure that each of our guests has the most comfortable night sleep possible and we are pleased that you can agree with us.
We are so pleased that our hard work has not gone unnoticed and that you felt so comfortable throughout your stay. As a team, we all go above and beyond to ensure that each one of our guests receives a grand experience that is both memorable and refreshing.
We can now confirm that we do offer even more breakfast options in our 1906 Bar should you not require a full breakfast. This new menu keeps things simple with such things as a selection of pastries or traditional beans on toast.
It is our goal to exceed our guests’ expectations and provide that extra special service that makes it a five star experience.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us and submitting your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.
Our charming Hotel was established in 1906 and we take pride in honouring its original features. Of course, we understand that over the years we need to make enhancement's to particular features, including furniture and our maintenance do proactively look out for those. We do take action where needed and I would like to sincerely apologise for any disappointment, as your feedback is key and extremely important for us.
We have extended our property and included a more modern feel, in the 'Roman House' wing. It's understandable that everyone has their personal preferences in taste and we do feel that it is a nice contrast for those who are still wanting to experience The Grand.
The housekeeping team works extremely hard to uphold our high levels of cleanliness and it is fantastic that this reflected clearly upon your stay.
