Chambord is first of all a Renaissance château. At that time it was inhabited and there was no furniture except at the arrival of the king, Francis the 1st i.e. just a few times during his reign. Car parking fee helps contribute to the maintenance and the conservation of the country park and parking. It also allows to avoid wild parking and so to protect the wild animals living inside the natural reserve. Chambord is one of the few Loire Valley castle allowing free access to its grounds and granting free admission to the chateau to people under 26 year old. With kind regards.
Thanks for your comment. The French formal gardens designed under Louis XIV and resurrected in 2017 occupy 6.5 hectares at the base of the château. They are crossed by a 4.5 km long axis that gives the position of the double helix staircase. A vegetal transition between the monument and the forest, they restore the majesty of the facade of the château. It had been more than 20 years since France had known such a project! Furniture can be found mainly on the first floor in the suites of the 17th and 18th century. Chambord is first of all a Renaissance château. Even if they are not allowed today, the graffiti are part of the history of Chambord, the oldest dating from the sixteenth century (They cannot be counted or identified as they are too many.)
